Choking Hazard
Gillian Stewart, Sunday, October 18, 2015

Last week we heard the really tragic story of Jacob, the little boy who choked to death on a grape. My thoughts are with his family at this very sad time.

Choking is a very serious hazard. Young children and babies are at high risk and we need to be so careful.

Please check toys and other things in your child's reach for small parts and remove them.

Meal times need to be carefully monitored. Cut food into small pieces. Never leave a baby or child unattended during meal times even if they are just having a drink. They can choke on liquids as well as solid food.

A paediatric first aid course is invaluable. Do also read up on choking and how you can deal with a choking baby or child.

You can save a life.
