Little Routines, Gillian Stewart
Happy Easter
Gillian Stewart, Thursday, April 09, 2020

The weather forecast is great. It’s the Easter long weekend break. But....it’s very different this year.

Lockdown has brought many challenges to us all but particularly to those of you with busy little children and perhaps limited outdoor space.

Babies can enjoy being outside even if your outdoor space is very small. Pop a rug down and let them enjoy the sights and sounds of the outdoors. Don't forget the sun protection!

Make walks interesting and fun for older children. Eye Spy is a great game to play. Draw various things on a piece of paper to find on your walk. Let little ones scoot or push their dolls pram.

Don’t forget the traditional Easter egg hunt. You can hide chocolate eggs, little fluffy chickens, Easter pictures, healthy little snacks broken into pieces and wrapped in foil. Give them a little basket or bag and let them run around outside or indoors searching!

Under these circumstances it is too easy to let bedtime creep later and naps to move but try to keep to their usual routine as much as possible. When life returns to ‘normal’ it will be so much easier for everyone!

Stay safe and well. Keep smiling!
