Christmas Lunch With Your Baby
Gillian Stewart, Friday, December 18, 2015

I know just how stressful cooking at Christmas time is when you have a baby or young children around.

I have always cooked the meal on Christmas Day right from when my children were small. They continue to come home even now which is lovely. I'm sure the time will come when my cooking skills will start to waver and they won't be quite so keen to come home. I am hoping that will be the time when I have Christmas lunch cooked for me and what a treat it will be...but I'm not quite ready for that yet!

Christmas food is not just for the adults to enjoy. Your baby can join in too. Turkey with all the delicious vegetables is perfect for your little one. Just blitz or mash it.
Give your baby a bowl of turkey and vegetables chopped into small pieces as finger food. Have a bowl and spoon yourself so you can feed your baby too.

The only thing to remember is not to add salt during the cooking process. Adults can always add seasoning to their food afterwards.

Cooked carrots, parsnips, asparagus, broccoli and green beans make perfect finger food for your baby. It is a great way to keep little people entertained while you enjoy your meal for a little longer!

Remember to save a portion for your baby on Boxing Day.

Any leftover turkey and vegetables can be made into a delicious soup for you and your baby. This can always be frozen to be enjoyed at a later date.

Avoid sweet foods for your baby. If you don't give anything sweet to babies, they won't know what it tastes like! So stick to the savoury.... babies can very quickly acquire a sweet tooth!

Enjoy festive family meal times this Christmas!
