World Book Day
Gillian Stewart, Monday, February 27, 2017
The annual World Book Day Celebration is on 2nd March 2017.

It is day to celebrate authors, illustrators, books and reading.
The aim is to encourage children to explore the pleasures of books and reading.
Book tokens are being distributed to children. These can be used to purchase £1 books at participating book shops or used against purchasing a book.

It is the perfect opportunity to have a little outing with your child and enjoy choosing a book together.
Please don't forget to include your baby. There are some wonderful books for babies and it is never too young to start looking at books with your little one.
Board books and lift & flap books with lovely bright colours, words, shapes and surprises.
Make some time every day to look at books with your child.

A few favourites to add to your child's library....
First 100 Words by Roger Priddy.
The Tickle Book by Ian Whybrow.
Baby's Very First Book-Faces by Jo Lodge.
Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes by Mem Fox.

World Book Day can give parents a few sleepless nights as they try to come up with a costume to send their child to school in.
Don't worry too much, just keep it really simple. Your child will probably have to spend the whole day wearing it.
I can remember only too well trying to come up with different costumes for my three children. We had Noddy, Ronald Dahl's Sophie, Fagan, a Crow and a Sorcerer to name just a few!

Embrace and enjoy the world of books!
