Little Routines, Gillian Stewart

World Book Day. Thursday 3rd March 2016.
Gillian Stewart, Thursday, March 03, 2016

Today is World Book Day. A celebration of authors, illustrators, books and reading. It is a worldwide celebration marked in over 100 countries.

The aim is to encourage children to explore books and instil a love of reading.
Nurseries and schools will be handing out book tokens to every child. So have fun with your children choosing a new book and enjoy £1 off!

It is never too early to introduce your child to books. Babies from just a few weeks old will enjoy hearing the words and looking at the different shapes and patterns.
Books stimulate their senses and build memory and listening skills.

Here are just a few of my favourite books for your little ones....

  • Peepo by Janet Ahlberg
  • Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes by Helen Oxenbury
  • Pat The Bunny by Dorothy Kunhardt
  • Dear Zoo by Rod Campbell
  • Baby's Very First Book: Farm by Jo Lodge
  • Baby's Very First Black and White Little Library by Stella Baggott
  • Baby Faces Peekaboo! By DK Publishing

Spend time every day looking at books with your little one. Cuddle up in a chair or pop your baby in their cot or on their play mat, with books propped up all around.
A very special time...
